I have a better idea.

If people insist on leaving the roof like that all morning, let's clean up the mess, take all the garbage bags and empty them in front of their apartment.

it's 4:00 pm, day after the party, looks like some people cleaned up parts of the roof...but its still a mess.

7:pm roof is still not cleaned, I noticed people did clean some parts of the roof and left some garbage up there. I am sure the rest was left because people think it wasnt there shit but if you were partying the same night how do you seperate it?

This is the problem with living with children....

If there are several parties going on at the same time, make note of who is up there. At least you will know who didn't clean their shit up.
Better yet...coordinate with the other people for cleaning duties that night or EARLY the next morning (and fyi...you think anyone gives a shit if you people have hangovers? if you can't be responsible for your party...don't fucking throw one).

I have to ask...who threw the parties last night and didn't bother to clean up???
Does ANYONE know???

The funny thing about this blog is that if you keep posting about how messy the roof is, people will just stop reading it. I'm sure the ones that are partying up there aren't reading it. I'm kind of tired of listening to people complaining, because I thought this blog might be cool and actually provide some sense of community instead of yelling at us like parents.

Here for now. said...

I'll post anything anybody wants. If this is what people want to post - I will put it up. This seems to be on people's minds right now.

Perhaps the reason why people keep complaining about the roof is because it's a MAJOR ISSUE.

And a question for you, mattan...

How do YOU propose, we as a "community", fix the roof problem?

Let me tell you something...it's not all sunshine and roses when people are continuosly shitting in your backyard.

I hadn't been up there all weekend till last night. The thunder storms where pretty cool but the roof was a mess.

I like the clean up and put the trash in front of their door idea.

PS Thank you up the hall for painting over that crap. Major points with Moses!

2 parties 1 night. One at least fairly responsible and clean. The other...well just look at the 3rd and 4th pictures down.

There must have been three - because two parties are claiming they cleaned up their mess and well just look at the 3rd and 4th pictures down.

Lets just keep being enormous dicks to each other so that anyone even thinking about using our roof privileges will be threatened down by cold stares and bitter comment board vitriol. Then the roof will remain spotless.

The "being enormous dicks to each other" is what we are trying to stop. That’s the point. I think whoever left that mess is demonstratively, by your standards, the “enormous dick”. I personally feel completely disrespected by whoever left that mess. They obviously don’t give a shit about me or anyone else in the building. I think that there is some area between reasonably clean and what everyone is responding too. Also, what’s wrong with aspiring to have a spotless roof?

I agree! The “cold stares “ are being produced by the people who are shitting on us by leaving that garbage on the roof. Here’s an idea - Lets live in a toilet because we don’t want any assholes feelings to get hurt.

What does vitriol mean?

I think people are just upset because the roof was disgusting when they wanted to use it. It’s worse than it’s ever been and seems to be getting even worse yet. Is there any reason they shouldn’t be concerned?

I don't get why it's so hard to understand. Carry out what you carry in.

Also please if you are taking your bottles and garbage out make sure you sweep you glass out of the stairs and hallways. Lots of people have dogs who don't wear shoes.

I think the posting when you have a party thing needs to catch on too.

There were at least three parties on Saturday night. The folks on the south end of the roof definitely did a great job cleaning up. As the host of the party nearest the door...I really am sorry. I was packing up and bagging empties throughout the night (ours are the boxes and bags of empties in the third picture). And though I meant to bring the trash down early the next morning, I completely overslept and didn't go do so until about 1:30. There was still detritus from the third party of the evening in the middle of the roof, which I did leave. In terms of how we knew what was whose, and I assumed the other hosts would make it up to clean their section. I do apologize, sincerely, for not cleaning up our party sooner.
